Unique remediation of Wilcza Góra Quarry

On 14 September, the ceremonial handover of the recultivated Wilcza Góra Quarry to the authorities of the Złotoryja municipality took place. The symbolic key was handed over by the CEO of Colas in Poland, Sébastien Picaut, and the director of the quarries, Paweł Marek, directly into the hands of the mayor of the Złotoryja commune, Jan Tymczyszyn.

During the ceremony, the mayor expressed his satisfaction, saying: "I would like to thank Colas for fulfilling the promises they made a few years ago. In the vicinity of Złotoryja, something has been created that we can all be happy about now and tell others about this place."

Over 60 guests present at the event also took part in an educational game, during which they learned about the history of Wilcza Góra. They could also share their ideas for the further development of this beautiful area. There were dozens of proposals and included like a zip-line, a climbing wall, an outdoor cinema, a souvenir shop and the organization of survival races. We hope that some of these initiatives will be implemented in the future, all ideas have been handed over to the new managers of this unique place.

At the end of the meeting, at the viewpoint, the mayor of the commune and the CEO of Colas  in Poland planted a chestnut tree together as a symbolic souvenir of this unique Thursday event.

Wilcza Góra will forever remain in the hearts of Colas employees. We are proud and honored that we were able to donate this unique place to the Złotoryja community, which will certainly contribute to the development of the region.

We invite you to watch a video documenting the reclamation process.
